Now can someone point to where it says you have to pay for awards?

If you had to pay for your award it wasn't an award.  Grammy Oscar what ever....

Awards shows are not about excellence they are about advertising products.

They want to place award winning on that product to make you think it's the best there is to offer.

The Oscars were started by MGM studios.  The Grammys were started by executives also that know exactly what about making movies and making music?

This is why you don't generally see indies at award shows. It's not because we aren't kicking their asses.

It's because we won't resort to unfair practices to distribute our art. We don't want to become part of the unethical machine.

I hear people say all the time they don't make music and movies like they used to.

So then why are the same people so defensive over the "artists" and "entertainers" who are guilty?

It's because the power of suggestion has everybody all screwed up.

The people we see on TV are constantly talking about fame but not about ART.

They all want to be someone else hence all the dressing up as successful icons of the past.

No one really wants to show you what they can do they just want to show you how much they look like Marilyn Monroe or Michael Jackson.

There is something really wrong with that.  Open your eyes people.

Oh and if your children are listening to music that you can't understand the words look the shit up and stop being so lazy.  Those little girls singing Nikki Minaj on Ellen was a disgrace. Drop my panties is not an appropriate thing for a 4 year old girl to say. SMDH

Talkin Behind the Back..........

Before I met Peven Everett I waded through the sea of Chicago Dance music producers.
I made it a point to make sure that I was well educated as to who these people were by going out every night and checking out parties.
Some guys were good ,some or even a lot were bad and some guys were just down trodden by the popularity contest that they were having to weather.
The constant talk behind somebody's back to advance yourself.....
I watched some of these guys get shit talked about out of their club nights.
I also saw some of the shit talkers.
I did a few projects but some how there was always someone trying to tell me what my dues were.
"What"?! I thought," you don't even know what kind of dues I've paid yet you want to impose your
agenda on me"?
I even had someone who is still prominent in the house scene today pretend to Peven he didn't know me when he was the one who called me to re-record a popular Chicago House Vocalists song to give it a new profile.  A new profile??? I didn't know who he was he called me meaning he knew who the hell I was. Oh and I always bring a friend when I don't trust somebody so I have witnesses. (for all of it)
Needless to say after seeing what happened to Martha Wash I wasn't gonna hand something down to another woman like that. Yeah I could sing the song well but it was already her song. Then later on you act like you never met me hmmm I wonder why...

When you flash forward to my meeting Peven Everett I was in the alley at Red Dog and Jojo baby
greeted me and said there's someone I'd like you to meet.
I met Peven who was on first glance stylish and pretty laid back.
I didn't know who he was.  I did however later figure out that Men From The Nile
was Peven's track.  I really got to know his music organically and not already have any bias about him as a man.  I was able to see in different situations how he dealt with things. I don't have anything but the truth.
Peven never asked me to pay my dues. He based my worth on my skill level. Not many people can say that.
I finally saw, the level of music professionalism that I had formerly expected.  From writing to playing to singing to mastering and to the unveiling of new works it's been great.

I came to the conclusion that I was going to help him fight all whom were against him
It's really just the right thing to do.
I was bullied a lot to so I understand the method they use.
It's all in them getting support of other people within their reach, by using some one who is notable to speak about, and their reputation to levy people's opinion of them.
This means usually they tell someone something really sensational about you to get their attention.
Now, if you are a mind your own business and make music guy like Peven there shouldn't be too much to talk about right?  That means most of what you hear about a person  is just a regurgitation of slanderous tales that people have manufactured to get the attention they are seeking.
This is just about the biggest bunch of Mean Girls I have ever seen.  This House scene.
Someone who was infringing on our copyrights when confronted said "what people said must be true about Peven".  First of all whats that they said and secondly, well that just proved you are a shit talker. It didn't prove there was something wrong with Peven.
He had another copyright violator tell him that he wasn't going to have any friends if he sought out the payment he is entitled to for the illegal distribution of his music. WHAT!!???? First of all who the hell says that and second of all I'm always going to be Peven's friend so now what?
Everyone's a fast talker but no one really has anything to say half the time.

If you knew Peven like I do you would realize that he is really just that once in a lifetime kind of dude.
He takes his music and art very seriously.  He creates volumes of ideas all the time.  He is a forever inventor. He cannot be stopped. It just keeps coming.  Having my own gifts I can recognize greatness. I'm actually qualified to give an opinion because I know what I'm looking for in skill level.

It might appear as if Im always fighting but realize that if I could be sitting in a chiffon robe singing at a grand piano I'd prefer it but this is the way things are through no fault of ours.
In conclusion it is important that we hold people responsible for wrong doing.  The wrong doing that decays the scene a little bit more each day. I remember a time when we lived like a Utopia and greed has made things a craptopia.  If each person can realize that they all matter within this scene and all of us collectively make it great then we can go back to the good vibes and genuine well wishes from whence we came. If you are Talkin Behind the Backs of others you need to realize you are just a pawn who is disposable because there will always be someone thirstier than you coming behind you.
